Thankfully, people don’t need to do these things alone. Warframe offers a Clan System where players can band together in a permanent guild of sorts, allowing them to communicate with each other across the world, organize raids, and come together in combat while synergizing their Waframes’ abilities. However, how exactly does a Clan in Warframe work, and how do players make one?
What Is A Clan?
In Warframe, a Clan pertains to a group of players that unite under a single name. This can go as far as teams creating entire websites dedicated to their Clan, with accompanying lore and other details. In fact, Warframe prepared a Fan Site Kit complete with usable assets, banners, and images precisely for this purpose.
On The Clan Dojo
When players create a Clan, they have a Clan Dojo that serves as the team’s base of operations. Players can add a variety of rooms and decorate the Dojo as they see fit, as this is essentially a visual representation of the Clan.
More than that, it’s through the Dojo that players can improve upon their Clan as a whole. This is where they can conduct Research and Trading, essential components that can keep the Clan afloat.
On Research
Players can conduct Research to enhance the Clan’s offerings throughout its tenure in the game. Research can be started and then funded by members interested in them. Thanks to Research, players can unlock blueprints that are otherwise unobtainable in Warframe except via Platinum or the Market.
The Research portion of the Clan Dojo has various options for members to tinker with. These include the Bio Lab, the Chem Lab, the Tenno Lab, the Orokin Lab, and the Dry Dock (Railjack). Each of these has different areas of interest, which may tickle the player’s fancy.
On Trading
Another nifty function of the Clan Dojo is to facilitate Trading. Clan members with Mastery Rank 2 may be able to access the Trading Outpost to swap up to six items per transaction with a partner.

On Alliances
Compared to a Clan, an Alliance is a union of various Clans. Think of it as a Clan composed of Clans, with members sharing common interests and ideals. Similar to Clans, being a part of an Alliance does have its perks. At its core, all Clans within an Alliance can access an Alliance Vault, although only up to 4,000 members can join an Alliance.
How To Join A Clan?
Warframe makes the process of joining a Clan as straightforward as possible. Players get into a Clan by receiving and accepting an invitation. Once they’ve accepted the invite, they enter a Clan as an Initiate. Clan representatives and Recruiters often send these invites, and they are very receptive to those interested in joining their groups.
In the Recruiting tab of Chat, Warframe players can say “LFC” or “WTJ clan” to try and receive some invites. It’s through interacting with various members and conducting missions with them that players can prove their worth and get a higher Role or Hierarchy within the team. Do note that some Clans have their own personal requirements for members, especially if they’re active in the combat department.
How To Create A Clan?
Unlike other games where it costs money to create a guild or a clan, anyone can create a Clan in Warframe. This is a convenient way of getting access to constant party members, especially since it can become a drag to manually invite them all the time.
To create a Clan, players simply need to open Communications from the Main Menu. From there, they can select Clan. If they’re not a member of a Clan already, they will be given “Start Your Own Clan” and “Learn About Clans” as options. When players click on the former, they simply need to type a name and their Clan will be created.
What Are Clan Tiers?
Another important consideration before creating a Clan is understanding the extent of what such a group can do. In Warframe, not all Clans are made equal. Thanks to Clan Tiers, certain Clans do more than others. The more active or bigger the Clan, the more perks and benefits they receive.
Clan Tiers
Clans aren’t all made equal, especially since in Warframe, Clans are organized into Clan Tiers. These categorize Clans based on their number of members and levels of activity. In turn, these Tiers are also used to group clans to regulate the kinds of competitions that can happen between them. Players have the option of either upsizing or downsizing their Clan, depending on their desires. Here are each Clan Tier and its corresponding effects:
Ghost: Don’t need any Barracks and can have up to 10 members. Shadow: Need the Shadow Barracks and can have up to 30 members. Storm: Need the Storm Barracks and can have up to 100 members. Mountain: Need the Mountain Barracks and can have up to 300 members. Moon: Need the Moon Barracks and can have up to 1,000 members.

The Clan Tier Multiplier
Since fans are already aware of how being of a higher tier can confer more benefits to a Clan, some active Clans might end up outpacing smaller Clans extremely quickly. Thanks to Clan Tier Multipliers, the game has a way of “balancing” things out for fair play between Clan categories. Essentially, Clan Tier Multipliers increase the expenses for decorations, rooms, and research.
The result in these calculations becomes the final cost of an activity located in that particular Tier. Here are the Clan Tier Multipliers per Clan Tier:

What Are Roles, Hierarchy?
While anyone can make a Clan within their friend group and expand from there, those who want to take the creation process a little more seriously may want to consider the management side of things prior to creating their group. Clans in Warframe offer a lot of features to players. And sometimes, players themselves manage these perks and features by virtue of their Role and their level of Hierarchy.
Unlike ordinary levels of authority, Roles in a Clan denote the various privileges a player has within the group. These often come with various expected responsibilities as well, and could come in handy when trying to keep order in Clans with hundreds of members.
Role
In a Warframe Clan, a Role denotes the kind of functionalities that players can perform within the Clan. Players can have multiple Roles, depending on their position in the Hierarchy. Here are these Roles and their descriptions:
Ruler: Add/Remove permissions. Recruiter: Invite others. Regulator: Expel lower-ranking members. Promotion: Promote other members into Roles of lesser or equal kind. Architect: Build/Destroy rooms and decorations in the Clan Dojo. Dojo Decorator: Build/Destroy decorations in the Clan Dojo. Treasurer: Can adjust Clan Tax Rates, and may fund Research and Dojo from the Clan Vault instead of immediately from the personal account. Tech: Can queue Research projects so members can fund them. Tactician: Can queue Solar Rails constructions and deploy them as needed. Chat Moderator: Suspend/Kick people from the chat. Herald: Alter/Post a new “Message of the Day. ” Fabricator: Can replicate Clan technology.
Hierarchy
In a Clan, a Hierarchy position denotes the level within the Clan’s hierarchy a player is located. These positions have various Roles assigned to them, which often help declare their responsibilities in the Clan. Here are these Hierarchy members:
Warlord: Ruler, Recruiter, Regulator, Promotion, Architect, Treasurer, Tech, Technician General: Recruiter, Regulator, Promotion, Architect, Treasurer, Tech, Technician Officer: Recruiter, Promotion, Architect, Treasurer, Tech, Tactician Leader: Recruiter, Promotion, Treasurer Sage: Architect, Treasurer, Tech, Technician Soldier: Recruiter, Treasurer Utility: Treasurer Initiate: None
