InsaneMonster is the teacher, software engineer, and mastermind behind this Warcraft 3: Reforged project. Titled Warcraft 3: Re-Reforged, InsaneMonster hopes to create a better version of the faulty Blizzard project himself. The finished campaigns will feature reforged in-game cutscenes with dynamic camera angles, reimagined missions and maps with expanded lore, and support for multiple languages.

Recently, InsaneMonster completed “The Scourge of Lordaeron,” the Human campaign from Warcraft 3 detailing the fall of Arthas, in its entirety. More than a simple remake, Warcraft 3: Re-Reforged adds new content to the game, with special interludes such as the discovery of AIden Perenolde’s tomb, and a special epilogue that bridges the gap between the Human and Undead campaigns. As InsaneMonster has promised, Warcraft 3: Re-Reforged is available free of charge, though players interested in supporting his project financially can do so via his Patreon.
The prologue for Warcraft 3: Re-Reforged, as well as the first half of “The Scourge of Lordaeron,” was released in early 2022, allowing players to experience the introductions of Thrall and Arthas in the early stages of Reign of Chaos. Now, players can experience the rest of Arthas’ fall from grace, beginning at the Culling of Stratholme and ending with his claiming of Frostmourne. With the prologue and first campaign finished, InsaneMonster is a little over a quarter of the way done with the campaigns in Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos.
Players are in awe of the work InsaneMonster has done on Warcraft 3: Re-Reforged. Warcraft 3: Reforged was a massive disappointment for most fans. Despite initial promises of a full remaster of Warcraft 3 featuring new voice acting, lore inclusions, and game mechanics, Warcraft 3: Reforged did little but change in-game models and break existing in-game content. InsaneMonster is truly transforming the half-baked remaster into something amazing.
That said, all hope is not lost for Warcraft 3: Reforged in an official capacity. Blizzard recently began rolling out updates for Warcraft 3: Reforged after a long period of silence. While some of these balance patches have caused game crashes and other problems, it is refreshing to see Blizzard has not entirely forgotten Warcraft 3: Reforged. Though unlikely, the acquisition of Blizzard by Microsoft could spark a new future for Warcraft 3: Reforged, provided it goes through. If so, hopefully, Blizzard will hire InsaneMonster so his incredible work can be put towards an official project.
Warcraft 3: Reforged is available now on PC.
