PlayStation gamers who have yet to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 console will soon have another chance to get one. Retail giant Walmart is restocking its supply of PlayStation 5 consoles, with both the standard edition and PS5 Digital Edition up for grabs. There are two things that PlayStation fans will want to keep in mind when it comes to this latest restock, however, with the first being that it’s not going to be available to just anyone.

In an attempt to combat scalpers and secure subscribers, Walmart has decided to make most console restocks exclusive to its Walmart+ subscription service. For those who may be unfamiliar with Walmart+, it costs $98 per year or $12.95 per month. It comes with various other perks besides first dibs on next-gen consoles, so frequent Walmart shoppers may want to stay subscribed to it. However, those who are just interested in trying their hand at the latest PS5 restock will want to do the $12.95 option instead. Anyone who is signed up for a free trial version of Walmart+ will not be able to participate in the restock, unfortunately. The other thing that fans need to keep in mind about this latest PS5 restock is that not only is it exclusive to Walmart+ members, but it’s also online-only. While Walmart has done in-store PS5 restocks in the past and likely will do so again in the future, online restocks are far more common. And since Sony recently confirmed that the PS5 supply shortages could very well continue until 2024, PlayStation fans shouldn’t expect to be able to walk into a brick-and-mortar store and walk out with a PS5 under their arm at any point in the near future.
As far as the difference between the standard PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition goes, the consoles are identical in terms of what games they can play and their general performance. The only differences are the standard PS5 console costs $499.99 and comes with a disc drive, whereas the PS5 Digital Edition console is $399.99 and has no disc drive.
